About Mount Satima (Oldonyo Lesatima)

Satima sits at the northern end of the Aberdare range and pokes above 4,000 m. The hike itself is mostly walkable, but the distance, mud and altitude make it surprisingly tough. Almost nobody is up there with you. We run it as a single big day with a 5 am start, or a two-day camping option.

Trail highlights

  • Stand on Kenya's 3rd-highest summit at 4,001 m
  • Spectacular tussock-grass moorland
  • The pink summit sign above 4,000 metres
  • Often spot reedbuck, eland and serval tracks
